Smart City has become one of the major Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications in the world and its market size is expected to reach 2 trillion USD in 2020. This talk discusses the unique requirements of Smart City infrastructure on networking and how our team uses the open-source Software-Defined Networking (SDN) controller – Open Daylight (ODL) to build an efficient and scalable networking system for smart city applications. In this talk, we will also introduce problems found and resolved when using ODL to implement an SDN controller for large-scale networks.
